Date: 18/01/2018

Potential and hope for ecotourism tourism development in Vietnam are from north to south, which is the potential of natural areas such as national parks, Central Coast, Northern Mountains, Mekong Delta and large islands.

The Mekong Delta is called a flat land, with many rivers, especially a canal system as straight as a chessboard was built in the French colonial period, and few old cities.

Many ancient architectural styles of the French, many attractive destinations for tourists such as My Tho, Cai Lay, Cai Be, Chau Doc, Sa Dec, Can Tho, Bac Lieu, Soc Trang, Ha Tien, Phu Quoc ...

The rivers such as Vam Co Dong, Vam Co Tay, Tien Giang, Hau Giang, Ganh Dau, Phan Hap, Cai Lon ... are full of water. But the most impressive is the journey to Dat Mui, from Ca Mau or from Nam Can with eight canoes.

Beside the meaning of ecotourism, finding harmony with nature and protect living environment appeared in the mid 90s.

A new concept of economic perspective, that is the theory of "Economics according to Buddha." This new view is based on a moral connotation on the Buddhist spirit. Economic labor is to help people develop their ability, have a spirit of collective harmony, and make products and services that are beneficial to everyone. Vietnam is a country where most people are affected

Buddhism. So, if it is said that the spiritual virtues of ecotourism in Vietnam is from the point of view of "economy according to Buddha" is a "sophistry"?

Ecotourism potential of the Mekong Delta has many advantages:

About nature: rivers and canals can make interesting journeys by boat, canoe, boat, ferry, with the security of life for visitors.

On the local economy: orchards, flower gardens, rice terraces, salt fields, brick kilns, floating markets, fish markets ... are interesting places for excursion. They will have interesting discoveries about life in harmony with the nature of people.

About ecotourism products: handicraft products made of coconut trees, melaleuca, mangroves, terracotta ... that tourists can bring in the luggage.

Cultural: Religious sites such as temples, churches, famous temples are places where eco-tourists will love. Culture "don ca tai tu” or “vong co”, is a feature of the region, should be developed strongly because most tourists love them.

Food: sweet style of the dishes will make ecological tourists like. Foreigners generally do not like the dishes "water" like hot pot, soup, in stead of, they like the barbecue. Tourists like placing a charcoal stove, not an electric stove on the table, for them to bake and enjoy.

Highlights for eco-tourists in the Mekong Delta:

Visiting Dat Mui by canoe, combined with a meal with the performance of “don ca tai tu”, “vong co”.

Visiting Phu Quoc, a paradise on the earth.

However, the Vietnamese eco-tourism should pay attention to the requirements of eco-tourists:  do not worry about distance, time and cost.

Environmental sanitation: The most urgent issue is the sanitation of toilets in tourist places must be very clean, and garbage collection, no litter, no spit.

Style: no quarrels with tourists, no disrespect for tourists (discriminate against guests, customers, backpackers ...), the most necessary is the urgent, specific and timely help when tourists get accidents, robbery, lost of papers and lost money, infections, illness ... Most visitors are elderly, retired, they travel throughout the year, but the health is somewhat reduced, especially when walking, should take note to serve the elderly.

Promotion Period: There should be a dedicated promotion period of two months, three months. Time travel abroad, Europeans are two months 7.8 (summer) and 12, 1 (winter)

Service Providers: The breakfast should pay attention to the habits of foreign guests, they need coffee, bread, butter, cold meats, fruit jam, fresh milk, orange juice, fruit. Noisy activities such as weddings, birthday parties ... within the hotel should reduce less sound and do not last longer than 10p.m to give visitors a quiet night. Ensure safety when moving for tourists, service workers must automatically emit emergency float for each passenger.

An ecotourism tour is called success when all elements make satisfy visitors.
